OIKODROM in Serbia. Looking for the potentials.

On our #DANUrB visit to Bačka Palanka from the 3rd until the 8th of June 2018, the Oikodrom Team represented by Dr. Heidi Dumreicher and Michael Anranter had the chance to meet and talk to several people in this small town on the Danube. With the support of the municipality of Bačka Palanka we were able to conduct participatory photo interviews, expert interviews and go on field excursions in the region. While sports, economic success, education and border crossing issues were topics highlighted by dwellers at the excursions we could find out more about the Danube coastline and erosion, irregular river and borderland activities, vineyards in Nestin and cultural heritage in the Croatian partner town of Ilok. On our last day, we also visited a Roma settlement in the region that will soon be reshaped according to the plans of the local municipality.

We would like to thank Vladimir Dragisevic for his active engagement in the organisation of the trip and the coordination with the interviewees. The outcome of the interviews was shared with our partners from the Univerzitet Novi Sad. Photographs by Michael Anranter.
