Julia Gamper

Julia Gamper holds a BA degree in Social- and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Vienna. Her main interests during the BA studies lied on the subject areas of Development Cooperation and Urban Anthropology. At the moment she is involved in the MA degree Cities and Society (Sociology) at Goldsmiths, University of London. Currently, she is writing her MA thesis on Temporary Urbanism, investigating Terrains- Vagues- Potentials and Limitations of Temporary Spaces in the Contemporary City. Further spheres of interests represent ‘The Right to the City’ and the inventive attempts by individuals as well as collectives to re-imagine and re-appropriate urban public spaces.
Julia supported Oikodrom in 2016 within the East- West Rurbanity Project that aimed at promoting knowledge exchange between Austrian and Chinese experts regarding a sustainable future for rural and urban settlements. Furthermore, she was involved in a research project that investigated participatory processes at Nordbahnhof Wien, one of Vienna’s most ambitious Urban development Projects.
